Sleep Better Feel Better

The best pillow you will ever lay our head on and the last pillow you will ever buy!

Wool is the most breathable filling material available, making it both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.   Wool is superior with regards to its comfort and performance qualities.

Natural
Wool is a natural material; something grown, not made in a lab. Your body knows the difference. Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.  The ecological footprint of wool is better than cotton and down.  Another factor that makes wool the best is the process in which wool is taken from the animal. Down bedding comes from the poultry industry. The bird is used for its meat while the feathers are plucked for bedding. Sheep, however, are not harmed in the shearing process. Simply stated, the sheep get a "haircut" and the coat of fleece grows back annually.  Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.

Dust Mite Resistant
Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.  Wool ranks far above all other products (including cotton, down, kapok, and buckwheat bedding) in its ability to resist dust mites.

Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
amazingly, wool resists bacteria. It’s actually both antimicrobial and antibacterial.  Because wool resists dust mites, mold, mildew and bacteria it is great for alleviating allergies. Even products that are labeled "hypoallergenic" (including down products that have undergone massive wash techniques to get rid of the dust and even synthetic products) will not be able to be dust mite free for long. Once you take it home, it will naturally attract dust mites overtime. But not so with a wool product which dust mites find inhospitable. Some products labeled hypoallergenic use chemicals to achieve that end.

Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.

Sustainable and lasting
With proper care, your woollen pillow can last for decades.  Wool batting, being one continuous piece, stays in place in your pillow and is hand-tufted to further secure it.
If you want a less firm pillow you can take some wool out from the middle of the pillow.   Your pillow will compress over time all you need to do is fluff it up by hand and you’re ready for a good night’s sleep.

Low Maintenance Care for your Pillow
There is no need to wash your wool pillow.  It will not hold moisture, mildew, mold like other pillows, so it does not hold onto sweat and body odor.  I suggest put another cotton pillow protector over you new wool pillow and then your pillow case.  When you change your sheets let your bed and pillow breath for a few hours and also vacuum your bed.  The only reason you have to wash other pillows is because they do not have all these wonderful properties that wool has.  In a few years if you need to wash it you can send it to Birkland Brothers be cleaned and re carded for a nonimal fee.  when  you get it back it is like having a brand new pillow every few of years.
